A journey to a Christmas tree lot turned holiday photos into a magical photoshoot fitting for the pages of an editorial magazine.

Yes it looks festive in Arizona during the holidays. No it’s not only dust and cacti. There are these beautiful romantic hidden gems all over the Phoenix metro area that it’s only a matter of time until you stumble upon one.

Yearly photos are one of my favorite things to do with my beloved. He’s such an amazing sport to participating in my crazy antics. Dressing up in formal theater wear and heading to a rocky Christmas tree lot was an adventure for sure.

Why do we take yearly photos? Well a couple of reasons. 1) We like being classic and are often called old souls. These photos find their place on our yearly Christmas cards that we send out to our friends and family. And it gives us a moment to reflect on years past. 2) It gives us a reason to get dressed up. 3) We LOVE supporting and befriending photographers in our area. 4) Justin and I get to connect. We usually end up laughing our heads off, having beautiful moments of sacred intimacy, and get to make out– a lot.

The seasons might be difficult for you to navigate. For many, it can bring up extreme feelings of hurt, pain, trauma, and numbness. Taking time to find beauty, even if it for the purpose of a photoshoot, is one of the ways to be able to hold joy and pain at the same time.
