• Unveiling Spiritual Vulnerability: Embracing God’s Authority Over Halloween and New-Age Practices

    A response to ‘spooky season’

For the longest time, I was never really able to articulate my pure disdain for halloween. This came to a head when I got married and I just had no interest in celebrating that day.

I wasn’t able to really understand my disposition to this day filled with ghosts and demons and skulls until one day I was finally able to. I told my husband “I feel spiritually vulnerable.”

I did it. I defined it. Now let me define it for you. This isn’t a conquest against kids in costumes or limitless amounts of candy. But it is a response to get you to hear me out a few times this month so we can meet on even ground, you can do some soul reflection, and maybe even talk to God a little bit.

This series came from a place of personal conviction. If you look back on my online presence over the past few years, you might even see some shadows of hypocrisy. I own that. I do. But I also can turn around, repent, and set my sights on God.

    Let’s talk about spiritual vulnerability.

I’m not going to assume your spiritual experience reading any of this, so we’re going to start at step 1. There is a heaven and a hell. There is good and evil. There are angels and demons. There is God Almighty and then there is the enemy/satan/the devil.

Whether or not you choose to believe in these entities is entirely up to you. But your choice not to believe in them doesn’t eliminate their existence.

Over the past few years and as my circles have expanded, I have seen the fingerprints of a greying spirituality become very confusing, tempting, and attractive.

What do I mean by this?

I am a goddess, I am my own power. No. There is only one God. Anything else that contradicts God is a lie and is evil.

Crystals can heal. No, God is the ultimate healer. It is through Him that everything is allowed.

I can cast spells and curses. That’s fine and dandy, but you’re playing on the side of satan here. Just so we’re clear. I choose team Jesus.

Hororscopes can tell me my future and what is going to happen. God is all knowing, omnipresent, and all encompassing. He already knows. Anything that is outside of what God has ordained your life to be is evil.

Demons are just a hollywood creation. No, demons are very real. They are out to get you and fight for your soul. Making a flippant holiday around their existence is allowing them to neutralize God’s power in your life.

God and His angels are good. And there is evil.

    There. I said it.

This might be the point wher you click off of the page and hit the block button, and I understand. But for those who are out there wanting to take such action, your ignorance of the situation won’t prevent me from speaking the truth.

So why in the Clark household do we not really recognize halloween & the rest of the spooky-season antics?

Movies about possessions aren’t entertainment. They’re a terrifying reality of what can happen. Witches and witchcraft does exist, and we choose not to celebrate it because they’re playing for the wrong team.

We have been personally convicted that if we decide to make a flippant remark about the spiritual realm, it will open the doors for unwelcome spirits in our house.  The only spirit allowed here is the Holy Spirit.

I’m not going to hold back any punches here. So join me over the next few weeks as we dig into the new-age & evil spiritual practices that our culture has glorified and celebrated. I pray that in all of this, you are able to see God’s goodness and authority over it all.
